Wars have been fought for thousands of years. They occur over issues to do with land and resources, religion, economics, nationalism, politics and even revenge. Wars have become destructive of late, due to the advancement of technology and industrialisation, in warfare. Thousands of people become displaced when their homes become destroyed. Many innocent people are caught up in the recklessness of war, yet wars prevail. In this issue of Extra! we will try and look at what war is and how it impacts on our communities, here in Aotearoa/New Zealand and overseas.
